Small Steps To Big Dreams

Ada Porat - Tuesday, January 17, 2012
A lot of success coaches and motivational speakers tell you to THINK BIG. They tell you to create a big vision in order to succeed. And I agree - having a big vision is necessary to accomplish big things.

At the same time, even big things are compiled of multiple smaller components - and so I find myself coaching clients to think small instead.

Whenever you are in a tight spot in life, it is especially important to focus on the goodness of life at the present moment. The past is over and the future is not here yet. This is the perfect time to appreciate what you do have now instead of focusing on fear or lack.

Being laid off is a case in point. If you are out of work and have been for some time, it may be difficult to think about the perfect job or the ultimate contribution you want to make in the world. At this stage of the game, you may just want a paying job... it’s time to think small.

This bleak season will pass. Make the most of it by finding ways in which you can make a difference. Spend more time with loved ones, help the children with homework, plant some flowers. You can teach yourself a new skill or take a local adult education class. Join a Meet Up group. Being unemployed may feel like a permanent condition. The fact is, it is a season that will surely pass. You are not going to be out of work forever, so take advantage of the time you have now!

Whenever a project feels huge, it’s time to think small. If the size or complexity of a project overwhelms you, focus on just the next few itty bitty steps. Locate the phone numbers you need to call... schedule the time to make the call. Outline the chapters of the book you want to write...commit to writing just one chapter a month. Unclutter one drawer rather than thinking about uncluttering the whole house. Baby steps will get you there.

Even in business, there’s a place and time for thinking small. When thinking big, we often complicate things with too many ideas… and we overwhelm ourselves.

No matter where you are in life, there is always something you can do. If you cannot tackle big things now, don’t dither in indecision - start with something small! Here are a few pointers to help you take a step forward:

1.  Pick just one or two things to focus on each day. I find that most clients are trying to do too much in too little time. As a result, few things get completed. If you commit to one or two things daily, you’ll get more done and feel less stressed.

2.  Revel in little things. Go out and literally smell the roses. Slow down and appreciate your surroundings. Taste your food instead of inhaling it. Have meaningful conversation instead of passing interactions.

3.  Scale down. Get rid of physical clutter as well as mental clutter. Review your obligations and decide if they still serve you. Do you need to withdraw from some? Clear your mind by doing a brain dump: put your ideas, to-dos and tolerances (those things you are tolerating) down on paper. Prioritize what you will do and what you won’t, and tackle them one at a time.

4.  Focus on being great at what you do, rather than being the biggest or best. If you shift your focus to being great, you’ll begin to do things from a place of excellence instead of overwhelm.

5.  Allow extra time for everything you do. If writing a letter will take ten minutes, allow yourself twenty.  That way, you build buffer time into your day to cope with unexpected events. If you finish in less time than that... go watch the clouds!

2012 - End Of An Era

Ada Porat - Saturday, December 24, 2011
Are we witnessing the end of the world approaching? What will happen next? Will we make it through 2012?

I believe that we are seeing the end of an era dominated by self-serving, egocentric living; an era that was mired in the duality of haves and have-nots. I also believe that in the perfect circle of life, new cycles are birthed from the ashes of the old, and we are currently right inside that wrinkle in time where two realities overlap: the dying former reality and the birth of a new era.

Things are changing so fast that many feel stuck, lost and afraid. But are you really?

Take a moment to really feel what is going on. You are not stuck… you are simply constrained. Yes, the old way of doing things no longer works, and you are trying to adjust to radical new ways of viewing life, doing things, and living.

Outside yourself, the whole world is going through a spin cycle. At the macroscopic level, systems and structures that formed an integral part of the old, dualistic Newtonian paradigm are crumbling. They are unable to hold the energy of higher consciousness that is sweeping the planet. On a microscopic level also, obsolete ways of being are falling away, affecting every individual.

None of us are exempt: relationships, employment, institutions and other external forms of security are subject to the scrutiny of a higher awareness that is emerging as individuals awaken from the grand illusion we have believed to be real.

The choice is no longer if we’ll let go of the old ways; it is simply how you will let go. Will you gently release the dense relationships with people, power and money that no longer serve your soul’s evolution so you can make space for a higher reality? Or will you fight to the bitter end, trying to hold on to some semblance of control until things are torn from your life with deep claw marks – your claw marks – all over them?

Resistance brings pain and suffering. Great spiritual teachers like Jesus and the Buddha taught their followers not to resist, but to surrender to the Higher law at work beyond the visible realm.

The truth is that, throughout this time of constraint and upheaval, there are unseen forces holding you steady while you learn to run this new kind of energy… the energy of Oneness with Divine purpose. It is your Divine connection, hosted in a human shell. Long ago, before you ever came into this life, you chose to embody this energy at this time. It is your contribution to the shift of the ages, and now is your time to fulfill that agreement.

The energy of Divine oneness or unity is the most powerful force in the Universe. It is powerful enough to constrain you when you try to separate from Divine guidance at your core and assert your human will.

In the old way of life, we accomplished goals by imposing our human, egoic wills onto external reality. We were conditioned to be willful and determined, wanting whatever we chose to have when we decided to have it.

This way no longer works. When we assert our human, egoic will in the new energy that surrounds us now, there are numerous obstacles constraining us.

To move past these constraints, we have to give up the drive to accomplish things by sheer force of will. Instead, we need to align with the power of All That Is. We need to surrender to trust: trust in the Divine, in Higher Guidance, in Spirit, God… whatever you choose to call the essential Life Force Energy.

When we choose to trust, the ego yields so we align to a Bigger Plan - the Higher picture of Divine perfection. From there, we are able to flow and co-create a higher reality than we could have ever conceived of before.

It is no longer possible to more forward in ego and still make spiritual progress. The constraining force of Spirit will block your movement at every turn - the old ways of doing need to be surrendered to embrace higher ways of being.

Spirit will get you through this time of transition, no matter how difficult it feels.

Those same unseen forces that hold you steady now, can and will lift you out of all the illusion of despair. All it takes is for you to let go of all attachment to the old forms of power, and to embrace the path of alignment, the way of trusting and allowing.

We are living in a very different reality now than even five years ago. The old life with its hopes and dreams is filed away in the archives of All That Is. To keep looking for it, merely deters our progress.

Instead, you need to learn how to commune with your soul to access the inner guidance that is stirring there. Every change that you wish to see in society starts with you and the field of consciousness that you are holding.

Now is the time to embrace what shows up in your life moment by moment.

Look for new ways to reframe things, new tools to do things with.

Go inward.

Drink deep from the wellspring of life.

Let the timeless wisdom and healing energy of sacred teaching wash over you to renew your soul.

Develop a dialogue with Spirit and ask for guidance and clarity.

Stay present in the moment and allow the answers to flow to you through circumstances.

When action is indicated, do it. When circumstances open up for you, move forward. And when doors close, don’t try to break through them. Sometimes, we need to spend a while living in the in-between: learning to let go of the need to control, the need to logically understand.

At times like these, we need to ask ourselves what we really want and why…even as we surrender the need to know how it will come about. We need to simply align to the Eternal Presence and be present, patient, and still.

As you consciously evolve in response to the Divine nature within you, you will embody the higher energies of the life force field wherein everyone’s consciousness can evolve.

From the Source of Truth at the microscopic core of you being, the energies of a new and higher way of being will ripple out to touch, change and heal the realities of life on a macroscopic level. In a world crying for hope and healing, there is no greater service you can offer!

Your Answer Has Arrived

Ada Porat - Wednesday, September 22, 2010
Have you ever received guidance from someone else about what is going to happen in your life and then it didn’t pan out? Perhaps you were guided to write a book or start a web site and then everything stalled. Did it leave you wondering what really happened there?

If you are like most people, you may have started doubting your guidance and wondered if your lucky break will ever come. When the answers to your prayers arrived, you may even have dismissed them because they didn’t fit your expectations.

I would like to present you with another point of view: whatever shows up in your life, IS your answer. If you have prayed, planned and performed, yet nothing seems to come together, the evidence presents you with your answer… even if that is not what you want to hear. The answer to your prayer lies in what is happening in your life now, not in the fantasy of what anybody may tell you is coming.

Dreams and “guidance” that are not based on truth, can act like viruses of the mind. They will infect you with wishful fantasies and false expectations, blinding you to the truth of what is really happening in your life. These fantasies and dreams, while alluring, can get you so caught up in illusion that you miss the real answers that show up in your life.

True guidance may come in many ways, but it will never create a separation between where you are and where you are going. In other words, true guidance is always congruent with your path and purpose. There will be a natural flow of synchronicity between where you are at and the guidance you are receiving. True guidance will resonate with your heart’s deep knowing. It may also bring up unfinished emotional business that you need to clear in order to make space for the desired outcome.

True guidance flows with congruence; false guidance deceives. If there is no congruency between the guidance you received and what shows up in your life, it should raise a red flag. As captain of your soul, your job is to discern between true guidance and deception; between guidance that stirs your soul and static that strokes your ego. True guidance will not stroke your ego or feed its expectations; it will always challenge you to fulfill your highest potential.

When someone does not discern between true guidance and illusion, they will start using illusion as a defense against reality. They’ll get trapped in the world of dreams, fantasies and expectations. You have probably encountered some of these unfortunate souls: the ones who have taken every workshop and mastered every modality, holding themselves up as some advanced guru, while in reality they are leeching off the kindness of parents, family and friends because they are so self-deceived. Or perhaps you know some individuals who have lost their way to the illusion of some woo-woo philosophy that promised them an easy life with lots of love and riches, and they cannot come to grips with the reality of what shows up in their lives.

The Buddha taught that reality is your friend. Dialogue with reality and you will come to terms with what is, rather than the illusions of what your ego self craves, wishes for or desires. Another common example of the delusional nature of false guidance often occurs in relationships. Have you ever dated someone because of what you dreamt and hoped for them to become, instead of who they are in the moment? Recognize the red flag of delusion and drop it, or you’ll set yourself up for endless disappointment and hurt!

To stay connected to truth, it is important to look at what shows up in your life and work daily, because change happens continuously. You are in this dense energy for a reason: to grow. There is learning to master, relationships to experience, and growth to embrace. You soul is here for experience, not for security. And you are a co-creator in this process. You are not here to be some transcendent ethereal being who speaks to angels and masters as an escape from the realities of life; you are here to experience life on the earth plane. You are here to impact earth through you conscious participation in this process!

How do you activate your intuition to discern and tune into that process? You pray about things and then use what shows up in your life as a map to align with truth daily. Prayer can truly transform your destiny, and so it is important to discern between prayer that comes from the ego and prayer that emanates from the soul.

Prayer that comes from ego will outline to God what to do and how to solve the problem so your ego needs can be met. Such prayer caters to your ego desires to be loved, comfortable, secure, titillated and catered to. It invokes the interference of ego games, and you will get caught up in attachment and seduction, bargaining with the Universe. When the bottom drops out – as it inevitably will - you need to realign with the truth of your soul instead of the desires of your ego.

Prayer from the soul simply asks for the process to unfold free from agenda; it sees asking and surrendering to the answer as one and the same. It comes from a desire for service and a willingness to surrender. When you have prayed from your soul, you will feel the sense of peace and alignment immediately.

When praying for guidance about something, recognize that true, congruent guidance comes organically and naturally. If you wonder about what you should be doing with your life, ask the question and then watch for answers to show up. If you are looking at something and the doors are not opening, stop wasting your energy on it – the answer is clear. It may not be the right time or direction, so instead of resisting the reality of what is, let it go so you can focus your energy on being open to the guidance that is available to you.

Face the facts and work with what is; it will bring you serenity. If you continue holding out for a miracle, recognize that you are wasting time and energy. If you are meant to be and do something, everything will fall into place to help you accomplish it – you don’t have to doubt or stay in a holding pattern.  Instead of struggling with reality, align with Spirit and surrender the outcome. If things are meant to be, they will unfold and nothing will stop them. If they are not meant to be, your resistance is an ineffective use of energy.

Finally, recognize that Divine timing is not in your control. If you are meant to do something, it will fall into place for you. Stop putting your life on hold for an empty dream; recognize that if reality is not supporting it, it is an illusion. You will have a much more peaceful and serene life if you recognize that you are not in control of timing.  Align with Divine timing instead of trying to force the process.

Accept what shows up, surrender attachment to the outcome, and align with Divine timing. Whatever shows up in your life, is indeed the answer to your prayers!

Light From A Crooked Candle

Ada Porat - Friday, November 27, 2009
For the holiday table, I pulled out my favorite festive candles – long, elegant hand-dipped tapers from the mystic city of Tsfad in Israel.

When I opened the box, I gasped with surprise to find their upper ends crooked and bent. Then I remembered: the last time I moved internationally, my household belongings were shipped through the Panama Canal to meet up with me in Arizona. These candles were part of the shipment that slowly traveled through the sluices in equatorial heat.

Remembering the long journey they had come, I looked at the candles with more interest. Indeed, they appeared like two solitary figurines, remolded by the intensity of the journey they had come. Indeed, they represented a metaphor of life experienced by many of us: outwardly, we may appear a little worse for wear from the intensity of our journey; bruised, bent and changed, yet not broken.

With their crooked tips, the prospects for clean burning did not look too promising. And yet, these courageous little travelers had managed to arrive in one piece. I decided to light them anyway and see how they would do.

Imagine my delight when their flames reached gently upward, despite the damaged wax.  Soft light radiated from the elegant tapers as the flames consumed the crooked wax. The setbacks of their journey were now transformed into a gentle glow that filled the room.

That’s when it hit me: the light from a crooked candle remains pure at its core. Its external appearance truly does not diminish its function or beauty.

Are you feeling like a crooked candle, bowed down under the burdens of your life?

You may even appear a little bruised and bent from your life’s journey. And yet, your potential for being a beacon of pure light remains untarnished within.

The potential to transform the world exists within you, despite the knocks that life has handed you.

Your highest purpose is to be a beacon of light, allowing the radiance of your Source to transform darkness into light. This Divine potential within is the greatest gift you have to offer. It can transform fear into trust, despair into hope, and sadness into warmth and cheer.

Do you feel bowed down, overwhelmed by the burdens of life?  Stretched to the max? Then turn to Divinity within and reconnect to the perfection of your Source. You are not broken yet! Your potential may be constrained but it is not destroyed.

Let the Light of Divinity in you burn brightly. It will light your way and point the way for others to find their way toward light and truth.

The Best of Times Or The Worst of Times

Ada Porat - Tuesday, October 14, 2008
By Ada Porat

Turn on the media and you are bombarded with dire assessments claiming that these are the worst times of human history: war and suffering reaching crisis proportions globally, Mother Earth reeling from the impact of human greed and exploitation, and a world economy careening out of control.

I beg to differ.

Yes, we are in momentous times; times that are demanding a response from everyone alive today. Yet I believe that the deep wounds surfacing in the collective psyche of mankind are presenting both horror and opportunity. Societies hunger for Truth to cut through illusion and bring about spiritual healing at the deepest levels of being. And you and I are called upon to participate.

I also believe that what we face in the external world today carries the potential for blessing, not a curse. Crisis unites us, for better or for worse. How much longer could we subsist as helpless victims of circumstance rather than as powerful co-creators of a Higher reality?

We’ve been indoctrinated to believe that what appears in the third-dimensional world is the only reality that exists; therefore, it appears to many as though we're all going down with collapsing infrastructures in the material world. The reality is that we are NOT going down, because Higher truth exists in dimensions far beyond the third.

That is why I would like to propose another alternative.

What is going on in our world today is not the end of life; it is the end of life as many have known it. It is not a disaster; it is a wake-up call. It is the call to choose which reality you will serve.

It is a call to emerge from the hypnotic trance of denial that has imprisoned humanity’s thinking for eons of time. This wake-up call is asking you to recognize that nobody outside yourself is in charge of your ultimate reality; nobody outside yourself has the power to create your reality – neither a president nor a collapsing world system!

This Higher call is challenging you to decide at which altar you choose to kneel: is it the altar of the almighty dollar or is it the altar of Almighty God? Are you going to grope for fear-based solutions that promise momentary reprieve, or are you going to surrender to the perfect, Divine Plan and purpose for your life?

Yes, it is time to get off the fence and choose. This is not a time for wishy-washy pandering around issues; it is time to decide whom you will serve. That commitment is the crank that sets in motion everything needed for resolution at every level of your life, and the outcomes will reflect the choice you made.

It is indeed necessary for old, false illusions of power and security to fall away in order to create a higher reality from a place of truth. And now, each one of us is being called to step into our own Higher power, so that collectively we can create a new, higher reality for life on this planet.

The external world offers a grand mirror in which all our hidden illusions and fears are reflected. This Higher wake-up call is asking you to become fully conscious of every fear and illusion hidden in yourself. The fears and illusions you see in the external world are visible to you for the simple reason that the same energy also exists within you. The external world is simply reflecting back that which is in you so that you can acknowledge, heal and release it within yourself.

As you heal every aspect of external life that you do not like by taking responsibility within yourself for the same energy, you start living from your inner Source as a co-creator.

Yes, it is time to take full responsibility for our lives; for what we are and for what we are not. This acceptance becomes the essential first step toward change, healing and co-creating.

Nobody out there – no government, no leader and no establishment – has the power to create or to change the blueprint for your life. You are the only person who has been given that authority – and it is a mandate for your soul’s evolution. When you align with your Divine Source, you also align to the blueprint for your life. And you are the only person with sufficient authority to create your life from that blueprint, which is Divinely perfect.

Your Divine connection will hold you steady throughout this time of upheaval while you learn to operate this new kind of energy… the energy of oneness with your Divine purpose. Long ago, before you ever came into this life, you chose to embody this energy at this time. It is your contribution to the shift of the ages, and now is your time to fulfill that agreement.

Throughout history, we have been reminded of the ultimate benevolence of the Divine blueprint – God’s plan – for us. In the Judeo-Christian scriptures, the prophet Jeremiah recorded God as saying, “I know the plans I have for you; plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Your alignment to Divinity activates that blueprint for blessing in your life.

Could you, just for a moment, imagine the powerful example we can collectively set for our children and generations to come by choosing to align with Truth? Could you imagine the wave of healing that would sweep across our planet when we unite in doing what is right, rather than what is the most profitable? Just imagine the hope we could create for a global future of peace when at last we start living from the heart!

No government superpower or human messiah can do that for us. If it is going to be, it will be because you and I are creating it. We are the ones that we have been waiting for, and the clay feet of crumbling leadership merely serve to remind us that true power resides within.

Mahatma Gandhi said, "Humans’ greatness lies in being able to remake themselves… and then they will be the change they wish to see in the world." It all starts with you and me, and it starts now! It is time to clean up our personal, internal worlds first. We need to heal the old fears and illusions that have kept us feeling like helpless children for too long.

Doing the inner work of healing old, false perceptions will prepare the way for you to create a new reality, based on higher Truth. The very act of starting this work will set in motion the Divine plan, drawing to you Divine help and guidance for the task. After all, that is the reason you are on this planet – to become the highest expression of your Higher nature.

Just as humans created a grand illusion of power and success on this planet through their choices and actions, now it is time to create a new, Higher reality. The same energy and passion that was used to create the grand illusion, is available to us to create anew. What will it be: more illusions of the same kind, or a Higher reality based on Divine truth? It’s our call!

At this time in history, I can think of no message more powerful than simply reminding you who you really are: a limitless spiritual being who chose to be on the planet at this time. Why? Because you have something to offer to help usher in the new era of Higher living.

What are your gifts and talents? It is time to use them to participate in the process. What do you love doing? What makes your heart sing? Know that the very things that quicken your soul, also have the power to bring hope, comfort and healing to the world around you.

It is time to move deeper into the stream of consciousness that carries us forward. Look around you and you will notice that you are not alone. We are all in this together as one family of mankind, and each one of us has something to contribute to move the collective forward.

This is a time to banish all thoughts of fear, and to respond to the call for service by saying, “Here I am; send me - use my talents, and let me be an instrument of hope and healing.” The power of heaven is ready to support your every effort!

Seven Aspects Of Effective Prayer

Ada Porat - Thursday, June 05, 2008
Seven Aspects Of Effective Prayer
By Ada Porat

If prayer is so powerful, then why does it seem like the more we pray for peace, the worse things seem to get?

Perhaps what we see as a world of chaos is simply the Field, mirroring our belief that peace is missing — our ‘please, let there be peace’ echoes back to us as chaos! If so, then this understanding of how the mirror works can encourage us to change what we say to the Field.

Effective prayer is based on this understanding that the energy underlying all of creation is a malleable essence that accurately reflects what we put out.

For many centuries, indigenous shamans have taught that we need to pray the results and not the problem. They exhorted people to focus on the outcome as if it is already a reality: to pray healing instead of praying for healing; to pray rain instead of praying for rain. Praying for something reinforces our perceived lack; praying the desired outcome visualizes it from a place of inner faith as if it is already there.

Our abundant universe always contains sufficient peace, health and happiness in some form. Effective prayer is hones in on these positive qualities, viewing the world as if the perfect outcome already exists, with appreciation and gratitude. By doing so, we open the door to greater possibilities and more of the outcomes we hold in mind.

When millions of people pray for world peace, for instance, their collective focus on the desired outcome has a profound effect. In 1972, 24 cities in the United States with populations over 10,000 experienced meaningful drops in crime rates when as few as 1% (100 people) in each city participated in prayer.

During the Israeli-Lebanese war of the early 1980s, researchers with the International Peace Project in the Middle East trained a group of people to "feel" peace in their bodies rather than to simply pray "for" peace.

At specific times and days, participants throughout the war-torn areas of the Middle East focused on feeling peace in the midst of conflict. During each such time period, terrorist activities stopped, crime declined, emergency room visits dropped off, and traffic accidents decreased. When participants stopped their experiment, the statistics reversed.

From the findings of these studies, researchers extrapolated how many people are needed to share the experience of peace before peace is mirrored in their world: the square root of 1% of the population. In a city of one million people, this is about 100 people. In a world of 6 billion people, it requires only about 8,000!

Collective prayer can be a powerful force to change the Field to that which is collectively held in mind: the more people focus collectively on a desired outcome, the faster such an effect is created. Here are seven keys to effective prayer:

1. Clear Focus

Clarity of focus serves as a coherent organizing principle to align the energy fields we focus on. In quantum physics, this is referred to as the Heisenberg principle, where random particles behave in orderly fashion when observed. The more clarity we bring to this act of observation, the more effectively the Field responds. Before prayer, decide exactly what it is you desire to accomplish and keep your focus on that intended outcome.

2. Intention

Ask yourself why you desire the specified outcome? What is your deepest intention or desire? Why? Keep drilling down until you get to the core of it; then address that core need instead of the superficial symptoms. Instead of desiring a new relationship because of the need to feel loved, would it perhaps be more effective to pray about learning how to love yourself?

3. Silence

In any conversation, silence is a valuable component that allows for comprehension and processing to facilitate meaningful feedback. Prayer is no different: It is your conversation with the Divine or the Field. Valuable insight can arise during those times of silence.

4. Listening

There is also a need for listening when we pray. So often, we blurt out all our requests, grievances and fears; thinking that such a one-way conversation constitutes prayer. In the quiet listening of effective prayer, you may find solutions arise as inner guidance and a subtle inner re-contextualization of circumstances.

5. Surrender

When a child brings a broken toy to their parent, they have ultimate confidence and faith in the parent’s ability to fix the problem. Well, prayer is no different! In this Divine conversation, you are simply aligning yourself to the Field to facilitate the desired outcome. With childlike trust, we can surrender the situation, detach from it and leave it there. That means no obsessing over the situation after you have let it go!

6. Gratitude

The power of gratitude is enormous. It helps us focus on the desired outcome rather than the perceived problem. As earlier scientific studies proved, focusing on the desired outcome has a powerful effect on aligning circumstances with what is held in mind. Since we are subject only to that which we hold in mind, why not give thanks for the solution rather than focusing on the problem? Your body will thank you with lower blood pressure, reduced stress and a greater sense of peace!

7. Be flexible

My grandfather used to say that we often pray wrong, but the Divine always hears right. We may be convinced that the solution to a financial shortfall, for instance, should come in the form of a raise. However, it may show up as a new job offer or an opportunity to refinance the mortgage. After you have prayed, keep your eyes open because answers may arrive in a way quite different from what you expected!

Reclaiming Your Forgotten Healing Garden

Ada Porat - Tuesday, April 01, 2008

Reclaiming Your Forgotten Healing Garden

by Ada Porat

We are a mysterious species of extremes and contradictions. It has been said that we are capable of dreaming the most beautiful dreams while harboring the darkest nightmares.

In the last 100 years we have mastered the secrets of matter, conception, life and death. We are capable of redesigning our genetic code, customizing weather patterns and creating new forms of life - powers historically left to God and nature.

And yet, the irony is that despite miraculous technologies, families are still destroyed by preventable disease, malnutrition, and epidemics. Despite the most sophisticated understanding of peace, we still perpetrate the horrors of war, induced famine and senseless acts of hate.

We may discover that it is precisely the context of these extremes that compels us to search for unity in our world and to find a sense of meaning. We are yearning for a deeper understanding of life and the part we have come to play in it.

This search for meaning draws us inward, away from the hustle and bustle of external life.  Once we start the journey to find truth within, miracles can start to unfold.  The secrets of living a meaningful life are indeed hidden in the heart, where they often lie forgotten, like an abandoned garden waiting to be rediscovered.

By doing the work of reclaiming the inner beauty of that forgotten garden, peace is restored within us.  And as we start making peace with ourselves, our external conflicts shift as well.  As we change our inner perspective on life, the things around us change as well. As Wayne Dyer says, when we change the way we look at things, the things we look at, change!

The Creator appointed human beings as custodians of this beautiful planet. In each of us resides the power to create our world as an abundant garden, lush and beautiful.

We can - and must – indeed reach out to bring healing to the Earth.

Like a journey of a thousand miles, the first step starts within each one of us.  The Hermetic teachings of Thoth show how the nature of the Divine is reflected in everything: as above, so below; and as within, so without.  As we reclaim our connection to the Divine, the effects will radiate out from us to benefit Mother Earth as well.  What a great incentive for doing our inner work!

The Power Of Inner Silence

The Power of Inner Silence

By Ada Porat

People sometimes ask me, “What’s the use of meditation?”  I love to answer that question because it reminds me of the abundance that comes from our alignment to a Higher Purpose.

Prayer, meditation or meditative contemplation are all intended for the same purpose:  stilling the mind and transcending the realms of ego so we can align with our Life Source from within. Indeed, when we approach meditation or prayer from this perspective of entering the silence within, it can make a powerful difference in our every area of lives.  Whether we’re talking about a lasting relationship, the perfect job, or the healing of disease, the principle is the same.

In that silence that ensues, we become aware of the divine Life Force energy that underlies all of creation.  When we align ourselves with that energy, it reflects back to us from all possible probabilities the outcome that is attracted to the feelings we emit!  This is the highest form of prayer:  a silencing within that allows for the highest purpose to unfold within us and within our lives.

Sometimes it takes a while for us to learn how to still the mind.  Perhaps we are very attached to a certain outcome and that may prevent us from entering the place of silent surrender.

In true prayer, there is no begging, bargaining or supplication.  Instead, there is the inner surrender to the silence, and the alignment to divine purpose.  Out of that place of peace, a new vision of what could be, may then arise without manipulation from the fear-based ego.

Our gratitude for the new image of what could be, often re-contextualizes our limited perspective completely.  Instead of bargaining or begging for a solution, we now experience a deep sense of gratitude, appreciation and joy for the possibility we are shown.

Once we see that possibility, there is a need to consciously and with intention, embrace it as an option, and to give thanks from the heart for it.  When we can feel the joy, gratitude and presence of this new vision in our hearts—not just think it, but also really feel it—then it activates the quantum resonance field and draws into our lives the desired outcome from among all probabilities!

In the vast field of energy that surrounds our universe, there is enough of everything to go around:  there is enough peace, health, abundance, and peace.  When we experience the opposite outcomes, is simply means that we have been focusing on the wrong things.  To attract more of what we desire, then, we need to simply change our focus!

When we approach life from a place of faith, we are able to see past obstacles and limitations to the Essence of what is – the perfection of all, with appreciation and gratitude. By doing so, we open the door to a greater possibility.

Faith draws us into that place of stillness, the void from where all creation originates; and gratitude enables us to translate our faith into practical results.  Meditation or prayer then becomes the vehicle that enables us to accomplish the change we seek in our world, from within.

The Inner Path to Global Healing

The Inner Path to Global Healing
By Ada Porat

Earth is currently in the midst of a massive change cycle that will affect every form of life on the planet by the end of 2012. This period, which is also known as the ending of a 25,920-year cosmic cycle (or Cosmic Year in astrology), is a time when polarities merge, dimensions shift, humans evolve in remarkable ways, and earth rearranges boundaries once thought to be solid. It is a time of great karmic opportunity and unprecedented growth for everyone.

Across the globe, deep wounds in the collective psyche of mankind are surfacing to be healed. Societies hunger not for war or peace, but for Truth to cut through the illusions of polarity and to bring about healing at the deepest levels of being.

The clarion call is sounding, calling us to action. If we wish to have a future on this planet, the time to heal our world is now.

How do we do that?

Dr. David R. Hawkins, perhaps the most profound teacher on the evolution of human consciousness today, says that everything we see happening around us, is the consequence of that which we are. “Every thought, action, decision or feeling creates an eddy in the interlocking, inter-balancing, ever-moving energy fields of life, leaving a permanent record for all time,” he says.

We therefore change the world not by what we say or do, but as a consequence of what we become.

This realization, when fully grasped, offers a springboard for rapid evolution in consciousness. As did Gandhi and other evolved beings, Hawkins teaches that the most effective way of bringing about change in the world around us, is by living our lives like a prayer and becoming the very change we wish to see.

To illustrate the power of becoming, I’d like to tell you about one man in Hawaii who changed his world simply by living his life like a prayer, becoming the highest expression of being that he was capable of.

This man, Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len, cured a complete ward of criminally insane patients - without ever seeing any of them! He simply studied each inmate's chart and then looked within himself to see how he created that person's illness. As he improved himself, the patient improved.

When I first heard this story, I thought it was an urban legend. How could anyone heal anyone else by healing himself? How could even the best therapist cure the criminally insane?

I had always understood "total responsibility" to mean that I am responsible for what I think and do. Beyond that, it's out of my hands. Most people think of total responsibility that way. We're responsible for what we do, not for what anyone else does. Dr. Len practiced radical responsibility and the miracles that followed, were ample proof of the power in this perspective.

When Dr. Len joined the staff at the ward for criminally insane at Hawaii State Hospital, it was well-known as a dangerous place. Psychologists quit on a monthly basis. Staff called in sick a lot or simply quit. Workers would scurry through that ward with their backs against the wall, afraid of being attacked by patients. It was a nightmarish place to live in, work at, or visit.

During his four-year tenure at the hospital, Dr. Len never saw patients. He simply agreed to have an office and to review their files. While he looked at those files, he would work on himself. As he worked on himself, patients began to heal.

"After a few months, patients that had to be shackled were being allowed to walk freely," he says. "Others who had to be heavily medicated were getting off their medications. And those who had no chance of ever being released, were being freed."

Not only that, but the staff began to enjoy going to work. Absenteeism and turnover dropped. Eventually, there was no longer a need for the ward and it was closed.

What work did Dr. Len do within himself that caused those people to change?

He was simply healing the part of himself that created them.

To make sense of this radical concept, you need to understand that total responsibility for your life means that everything in your life is your responsibility simply because it is in your life. In a literal sense, the entire world you perceive out there is simply a reflection of what is inside you, and therefore it is your creation. There is no “out there” there – what you perceive as out there is simply a reflection of what is in your heart and in your consciousness.

This concept can be hard to swallow. Being responsible for what I say or do is one thing. Being responsible for what everyone in my life says or does is quite another, right! Yet you can only heal that which you take responsibility for. If you take complete responsibility for your life, then everything you see, hear, taste, touch or experience is your responsibility because it is in your life.

This means terrorist activity, the government, the crime rate, the economy - everything you experience and don't like - is up to you to heal. Seen from the world of consciousness, they only exist as projections from inside of you. The problem isn't with them, it's with you, and to change them, you have to change you!

This concept is central to understanding the field of human consciousness. We change the world not by what we say or do, but as a consequence of what we have become.

The Course In Miracles teaches the same principle when it says, “Seek not to change the world, but choose to change your mind about the world. What you see reflects your thinking. And your thinking but reflects your choice of what you want to see.”

Why is it difficult for us to grasp this truth, let alone accept or actually live it? Because blaming another is far easier than taking total responsibility. To change the world, we need to first stop blaming others!

In his work with the criminally insane, Dr. Len never focused on blame. Instead, his radical practice of total responsibility was rooted in a deep sense of compassionate self-love. Dr. Len believed that if you want to improve your life, you have to first heal your life. If you want to heal anyone - even a mentally ill criminal - you do it by healing yourself.

He recognized the Divinity within himself as well as within every other person that crossed his path. And just as the Course in Miracles teaches, Dr. Len recognized that every situation, properly perceived, becomes an opportunity to heal. By recognizing the Divine nature of each being, he responded in compassion by taking responsibility for whatever did not reflect the purity of Divine consciousness in himself.

This is what Gandhi implied when he said, “The only devils in this world are those running around inside our own hearts, and that is where all our battles should be fought.”

How did Dr. Len do this radical work? Simply by looking at each patient’s file with deep compassion, accepting responsibility for their condition and saying, 'I'm sorry' and 'I love you' over and over again.

That's it!

This simple response embodies the core of all healing and evolution in consciousness. It starts from a place of deep compassion for self, progresses to radical self-responsibility for everything in one’s life, moves into forgiveness to dissolve false perceptions, and ends with the healing power of love to restore all to Divine perfection.

As we heal the wounds within ourselves that cause illusions of lack, duality, opposition and fear, our consciousness evolves to becoming a purer reflection of the indwelling Divinity. This work also raises the level of consciousness in the world around us. It is indeed through healing and transforming ourselves, that we transform the world!

When you start living from this place of radical responsibility as Dr. Len did, your life becomes a prayer. Polarities dissolve, archetypal shadows can be integrated, and the illusions of the mind yield to the freedom of your true, Divine nature.

This is the opportunity calling to every soul on the planet today. We are asked to become the very change we wish to see. To heal our world and safely navigate through coming changes, we are challenged to take full responsibility for everything in our lives and to align with Higher Truth.

It is this inner work of transformation that brings about higher levels of consciousness to end war, greed, inequality and lack. In a world crying for healing, there is no greater service you can offer!
