Making Optimal Decisions - The Convenience Factor
On a recent flight, I had an interesting conversation with a fellow passenger. She told me about the difficulties she was facing, having to return to the workplace after many years as a stay-at-home mom. She had been living off the insurance settlement from an accident, but recently had to drain this fund to cover medical expenses and she could no longer make ends meet.
Although she had been well-educated and successful in the workplace earlier in life, she now was at a complete loss about what to do. Should she return to teaching, or apply for a job in a bank, or just take a part-time job in real estate, she wondered. Clearly, she was confused.
I asked her what type of activities made her feel happy and alive.
“Oh, I love being with people, doing creative things, and being a part of the action,” she said.
I asked her if there were any opportunities in her home town where she could work with people doing creative things while earning a living.
“Oh yes,” she said, “There is a wonderful program at the Arts League that offers creative workshops. In fact, I volunteer there two days a week.”
She continued, enthusiastically telling me all about the innovative programs the league offered, and mentioned that they were looking for a new creative arts director.
“Have you applied for the position?’ I asked.
She looked at me with an expression of horror. “Oh no,” she said, “If I do that I’ll have to get up early in the morning – I could never do that any more. It’s too inconvenient!”
Clearly, there was something amiss with the priorities in her life. She felt stuck, yet every option she considered, was quickly dismissed as being too inconvenient, too low-paying, or lacking in some other area. She was victimized by her own confused priorities.
Our conversation left me reflecting on the confusion I so often observe in clients when they are faced with major decisions.
That confusion is rooted in a lack of clear priorities. When our needs, wants and desires all clamor to be met, we are often at a loss about what to do. In the confusion, it is easy give in to the desire for instant gratification and indulgence. Unfortunately, such choices do not bring long-term satisfaction or results.
Clearly, we need some guidelines for the important decisions in our lives.
The most important decisions in your life should be made not by what is convenient, but by what is appropriate. The appropriate decision may be downright inconvenient, yet it could be essential to moving forward. The passenger on the flight had all the skills for the position she described, yet she was not willing to move beyond her comfort zone to get out of her financial dilemma.
Being willing to face inconvenient truths and to take appropriate action, is an important first step. But how do you know what is appropriate for your situation?
The appropriate choice will always be aligned with your core values, not with the endless desires of the ego. It is your core values that drive your behaviors; they determine what you need to do, say or align with to ensure inner harmony. When your choices align with your core values, you will experience inner congruence even in the face of adversity because you are being true to your core.
Decision-making is actually easy when there are no discrepancies in your value system. To make empowering choices, it is necessary to understand your core values. Whenever your choices are not aligned with your core values, you will feel dissatisfied with the outcome in the long run. You will also find it difficult to stand your ground when the going gets tough, because you won’t be prepared to make sacrifices for things you don’t really believe in.
Here are some pointers for appropriate decision-making:
Recognize that every choice has an impact on your life.
Every decision either carries you toward your ultimate life purpose, or acts as a diversion. Ask yourself if your decision is taking you closer to your ultimate goal. If not, it is a distraction, no matter how good it feels or how much you want it! Releasing the distractions in your life will move you closer to your ultimate life purpose.
Discover your core values and honor them.
Your core values drive your behavior. Take time to identify the values that drive your life. Do you strive for honesty at all times, or is it more important for you to have harmonious relationships with others? Are you motivated by your inner truth, or by a sense of accomplishment? Defining your core values is one of the most important exercises you can do. Then, make choices based on your core values; not on shoulds, coulds, woulds, musts or wishes.
Always honor your integrity.
Place your integrity first, your needs second and your wants last. In such a priority system, your choices will honor the spiritual core of your Being. Alignment to your spiritual core acts as a powerful attractor field to draw into your life helpful people, synchronicities and situations. In this way, your needs will always be met! Christ gave his followers that assurance when He said, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Let your Higher vision clarify your intention.
Before making important decisions, take time to reflect on your ultimate intention. What is your true intention? Would your intended choice cause harm to others? (I am not referring here to upsetting their egos!) Remember that your soul is ultimately interested in your growth, not in maintaining your physical comfort zone. Alignment with Higher vision will give you a sense of inner peace and confidence; not necessarily convenience or comfort.
Get comfortable with change and chaos.
Change is an inescapable part of life, and it can be chaotic. There is no guarantee that making the appropriate choices will bring you instant reward or success. In fact, sometimes the choice to honor your inner truth will ruffle feathers around you! Honoring your truth may not be comfortable for some, because the light of truth tends to expose the dust bunnies of pretense and illusion.
Never mind! Ultimately, making the appropriate choice is its own reward. Living in integrity with your values aligns you with your Inner direction and the Source of your power. When you honor that Guidance in your daily decisions, life really rocks!

Aligning With The Cycle Of Creation
By Ada Porat
If you are finding changes in the way that things manifest in your world, you may have wondered why. The creation model can help us understand what is happening.
Everything Happens Quicker Now
The increased energies on earth make available to us the ability to create and manifest much quicker than ever before. This means that we can create the life of our dreams or nightmarish realities – the choice is ours.
With the increased materialization of that which we contemplate, it should come as no surprise that blocks to the desired outcome also surface earlier in the process. We may feel as if we are not getting the results because of not ‘getting it right’, but in reality it is a matter of everything simply being sped up: the good, the bad and the in between!
So how do we align with this quickening in the quantum field to make it work for us rather than against us?
Cycles of Creation
Everything in nature operates on cycles: there is the cycle of new moon to full moon and back, the cycle of tides in the ocean, the cycle of the seasons, the cycle of night and day, to name but a few. In shamanic cultures, this is referred to as the in-breath and the out-breath of the Divine Source.
The out-breath of Source generates a tremendous flow of life force energy to generate, inspire and vitalize. The Divine in-breath can be likened to the contraction or ebbing of energy as it returns back to its Source. It is during the pause between the out-breath and the in-breath that the unmanifest becomes manifest: this is the most critical phase of creation, and the area that I wish to focus on today.
It All Starts With Being
As you can see from the diagram, the process starts with the Divine spark of inspiration that emanates from Spirit – the place of BEING, where the unmanifest exists before it ever becomes observable as manifest matter. When we connect to the Source of life, we have access to those sparks of inspiration. It may come to us in the form of a thought, a dream or an inspiration, and it could entail ideas about issues you have been mulling on. A good example would be some insight about how to streamline your business operations for increased effectiveness, or an idea for a great new product or service.
Flowing From Being to Doing
The nature of inspiration is to inspire and energize. It can be very exciting as we start exploring the new concept mentally, brainstorming about how best to bring it about. During this phase of Flow, we find ourselves drawn to people or circumstances that help us clarify our thoughts. Abundant enthusiasm and energy flows from Spirit, the place of Being-ness, into our awareness. As this energy arrives in the mind, we step it down into coherent thought forms and start planning how to DO, implement or create the idea.
Taking Action
Once we have an implementation plan established, we jump into action and this moves us to the second phase of Action. During this phase, we move from the mental processing into physical doing to accomplish the desired outcome. This is the phase when the rubber hits the road and we find out whether our plans are feasible. We may encounter many obstacles along the process of implementation, and each time we may need to revisit the mental plan in order to find an appropriate way forward.
Getting to Results
When all obstacles have been resolved and all the pieces come together, our efforts are rewarded with the desired outcome in our 3D world, where we HAVE and enjoy the results of our efforts. Despite the joy of accomplishment, we may feel a nagging sense of emptiness at this place. That emptiness is a reminder to us that the process of creation is energy-intensive and that we need to complete the creation cycle by returning to Source. When we return to Source, we experience the ebbing of energy as a natural part of the creation cycle, and we can be energized or re-sourced for our next venture.
Flowing Back to Source
Very often, the temptation after reaching our goal is not to return to Source for rejuvenation, but to sit back and revel in the success. When we do that, we run the risk of losing our connection to Divine inspiration. When we do not return to Spirit for resourcing, we may not have the energy, inspiration or strength to face the next challenge that comes along.
Getting Stuck in Doing
We may also be tempted to repeat our last action plan for success - after all, it worked, didn’t it? And so instead of closing the loop back to Source, we backtrack against the creative flow and go back to the process of Mind, from where we plan and do. In our attempt to repeat the previous success, we may move forward on our own strength and forego the re-sourcing of inspiration and vision that is available to us because we did not close the previous loop to Source for re-energizing and inspiration.
Circumstances are usually different the second time around as well, because energy is dynamic and never stays the same. As a result, there is a risk of getting stuck on the lower planes of doing/action to get to the desired results. We may end up moving back and forth between the worlds of Mind and Matter, all the while losing energy because we didn’t re-connect to Source before starting the new cycle.
Reconnecting to Regroup
Here’s the good news: it’s never too late to re-connect! You do not have to wait until you’re stuck before connecting back to Source: you can do it any time you run low on inspiration or energy!
Perhaps we rushed ahead on the adrenaline from the previous success, and got involved in the next venture without consciously pausing to re-connect. As obstacles start to surface, we may we may run out of steam and become overwhelmed, anxious or depressed. When you feel these emotions surfacing on your path, simply reconnect to Source from wherever you are on the action phase of the Mind-Matter continuum.
The very act of re-connecting moves the ego out of the way and allows its self-imposing demands to subside. When the demands of the ego-mind ebb away, we can regroup and tap into a higher perspective on issues.
Continuous Surrender
When you reconnect to Source, you are able to surrender obstacles, re-energize your creative juices and tap into Divine wisdom. As you bring that energy down through the Flow phase of creation into the Action phase again, you will be amazed at how your renewed vision and inspiration support you in moving forward.
When I first started doing this, I was so delighted at the results that I started surrendering every obstacle I encounter in moving forward. I found that it alleviates all sense of anxiety and greatly assists my visionary ability. It also re-energizes me and enables me to tap into higher wisdom to address issues from a higher perspective.
The Impact of Others’ Free Will
You may find that you run into multiple snags along the Action continuum. This is not necessarily because you missed something along the way – it could simply be because many factors contributing to the situation have shifted. Each player in the drama has free choice and their actions influence the way the game plays out at your end. When you run into obstacles, simply re-connect to Source and surrender them, asking for higher wisdom and inspiration. You will be amazed at the results!
Holding on Loosely
By holding on to goals loosely and staying in a state of constant surrender to Divine will, it is much easier to let go of larger expectations and outcomes. You may also find it easier to ebb and flow with the process of creation with grace and ease when you practice on-going surrender.
Here’s to wishing you well throughout the cycle of creating your dreams!

You Can Change Your World!
by Ada Porat
You have the power within you to change your world! Here’s how:
The vibration of your words and thoughts powerfully affect outcomes in your life. In fact, science shows that every mental state emits vibration that attracts external conditions that resonate with it.
All desire starts with a thought: “I think I’ll plant a garden” or “I think I’ll go back to school.” That thought ignites the energy of desire to deliberately draw resonant outcomes to us from a field of infinite probabilities. It creates a blueprint of the form and then energizes it through desire to manifest on the physical plane.
By focusing on positive thoughts through visualization and affirmation, we set into motion a laser beam of focused energy to attract the desired outcome. No wonder that visualization and affirmation are used so successfully by athletes to improve their performance!
In focusing our attention on the outcomes we wish to attract - desirable relationships, joyful work, or abundance - do we deny the presence of the opposite? No, not at all! In the world of duality, polarity is real and necessary so we can exercise freedom to choose. We simply choose to focus on the desired outcomes instead of what we don’t desire. In so doing, we set into motion the power of intention to change or heal by attracting optimal outcomes.
Intention is a powerful force for healing and manifestation. The power of your intention transmits energy that attracts people, situations and synchronicities that resonate with the energy of your desired outcome. Imagine using the power of intention to draw to you clients that can benefit from your skills, friends to enjoy, and opportunities where you can be of service. This principle alone can turn your life around!
To increase your power of attraction, intention needs to be fine-tuned. As you will see, the resulting experience is never different than your thought or intention. If you don't like the results you are getting, change your mind about what is possible by clearing any limiting beliefs that are blocking your full potential.
Our thoughts, attitudes and judgments have an immediate effect on our world. Because the body is electrical and each cell in the body has a positive and negative charge, we are magnetically charged with the vibrational energy of our thoughts and attitudes, and we transmit this energy into the world.
It also means that whatever we send out comes back again - we get to be right about whatever we believe for as long as we choose to believe it!
Instead of existing in a frequency of fear, lack and limitation, we can interrupt habitual thinking with, “How do I prefer it to be?” or “What would be a better way?” Once you have identified the blocks that keep you stuck in limited thinking, you can decide to believe differently about this FEAR or False Evidence Appearing Real.
By changing your thinking, you change your frequency to a higher field of probabilities for optimal outcomes. You have the power within you to change your world!

Seven Steps To Success
by Ada Porat
1. Clarify Your Goals
Spend time thinking about what you want. What does your desired goal look like? How will it make you feel? How will it enrich your life? By creating a clear picture of your desired outcome, you develop a blueprint for success!
2. Declare Your Intention
Intention is a powerful force to put to work for you. When you commit to the realization of your goal, you create an attractor field that starts drawing to you the people and circumstances needed to make it a reality. Once you’ve decided what your desired goal looks like, declare your firm intention to yourself, to the Universe – and to the apparent obstacles along the way!
3. Use Positive Affirmations
Where attention goes, energy flows. It's easier to create your desired outcome when you use positive statements and self-talk. Positive affirmations nurture the desired outcome instead of feeding doubt and fear.
4. Tune In To Intuition
Take the time to become still and listen to your inner guidance as while navigating toward your goal. You intuition is a powerful ally that can alert you to opportunities or pitfalls. For some people, this shows up as a ‘gut feeling’ and for others it takes the form of an inner prompt. As you honor your intuition, you will find that it becomes fine-tuned.
5. Ruthlessly Resist Negative Thoughts
Negative thoughts have a way of choking the life out of the positive seeds we plant. Don’t allow negative images of failure and self-pity to rob you of the fruits of your creative process! When a negative thought sneaks up on you, replace it with a positive statement.
6. Take Action
A journey of a thousand miles starts with one step. What action could you take now to start the ball rolling on reaching your goal? Make that phone call, write that e-mail; apply for that position - take the first step in the direction you wish to go!
7. Cultivate an Attitude of Gratitude
You don't have to postpone happiness until you have achieved all your goals. You can be happy now by taking time to notice and give thanks for small miracles in your life: a valuable lead, a brilliant sunset, a supportive friend. Learn to appreciate the journey toward the goal and not just the goal itself.

Eating Elephants
by Ada Porat
When I was a kid growing up in Africa, we loved watching elephants in the wild. Their monumental bodies were bigger than any of the mammals on our farm, and yet they could glide through the bush almost silently on their padded feet.
When something was really, really big, we’d say it is as big as an elephant. The elephant one-liner we love best, went like this:
“How does one eat an elephant?”
We’d gleefully let friends and siblings picture an elephant the size of a house trying to perch on a dinner plate, before answering the riddle:
“One bite at a time, of course!”
At times, we find ourselves faced with responsibilities, obstacles or roadblocks that seem as daunting as having an elephant on your plate. You may find yourself wondering how you’d ever get through things.
And always, the answer is the same: One bite at a time!
If you can keep your eyes on the goal, even the smallest step toward that end is progress. Success may take a while – yet if you commit to the process, it WILL come!
Here are a few more tools to help you manage the elephants in your life and to progress toward your goals:
1. Clarify Your Goals
